Satoshi Nakamoto is the person who created Bitcoin. A paper describing Bitcoin and explaining it was published in 2008, and in 2009 the first Bitcoin software was released. In mid-2010, contact between Nakamoto and the Bitcoin community started to fade, and the important information needed to run the software was handed over to Gavin Andresen, while various Bitcoin domains were also passed along to other high-up members of the Bitcoin community. It is speculated that Satoshi Nakamoto has around one million Bitcoins, which at one point valued over one billion dollars.

The true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto is unknown, no one is sure if that is in fact his real name, or if it is a pseudonym. There are those who think that Satoshi Nakamoto wasn’t even a single person, but rather a group made up of multiple people. There have been many claims over time that people have found the real Satoshi Nakamoto, however all claims have been disproven, denied, or retracted, so for now we are left wondering who the real Nakamoto is.
