“I developed the DisLedger solution over the past 1 ½ years for use-cases that require processing to be finally settled in milliseconds, that need to scale to hundreds of thousands of transactions per second, and where the data is totally private and only shared between the parties to the transaction.” – DisLedger

Interview with DisLedger
BitcoinChaser: What kind of problem, market deficiency or opportunity inspired you to launch your project?
DisLedger: DisLedger is designed for high-volume transaction processing with complete privacy. Last year I noticed the deficiencies with the blockchain consensus mechanism that cause delays ranging from seconds to minutes; it can’t scale to handle massive volumes of transactions like is required for a stock market or an IOT micropayments network; and total transparency means individuals’ private information is provided to every member of a blockchain network. I developed the DisLedger solution over the past 1 ½ years for use-cases that require processing to be finally settled in milliseconds, that need to scale to hundreds of thousands of transactions per second, and where the data is totally private and only shared between the parties to the transaction.
BC: How will your project address this problem, market deficiency or opportunity in a unique way?
DL: The DisLedger architecture is the only non-blockchain, distributed ledger technology. It eliminates blockchain’s approach of massively redundant and wasteful replication of all data copied to all nodes. The patent pending approach creates Counterparty Ledgers that record the transactions directly between the organizations. The transactions are validated and recorded only by the parties to the transaction which means it’s totally private and incredibly fast. A technical whitepaper is available at https://www.disledger.com/DisLedger_Whitepaper.pdf
BC: How do you think that competition will develop following your ICO?
DL: DisLedger has been in competition with every blockchain system for the past 1 ½ years. No other approach comes close to the speed that DisLedger offers, and no other approach offers the total privacy. We have U.S. and international patents pending on the technology so have locked up the intellectual property rights.
BitcoinChaser: What are you planning to do with the proceeds of your ICO, and why?
DL: DisLedger will continue to provide technical support to customers and developers that utilize the technology. We’ll do outreach and business development to increase the user community; increase the rate of adoption globally; and encourage more usage of the technology – stimulating more demand for the DCL tokens.
BC: For all those who have read your white paper (pdf) and are still on the fance about contributing to your ICO, what can you tell them that could lead them to buy into your project?
DL: It is important to note that DisLedger is conducting a token launch of Intellectual Property licenses for the DisLedger patent pending architecture not a traditional ICO. The per-transaction, IP licenses will be issued as ERC20 standard tokens named ‘DCL’ that can be purchased via the Ethereum network. This is a new use of the ERC20 standard as DisLedger is not offering what most organizations have so far: a coin, ownership in a company, voting rights to a foundation, or security interest. In this case what is being tokenized is a license to use the existing DisLedger technology based on a license agreement that is incorporated within the ERC20 token. It is our thesis, undergoing review by attorneys that are experts in the field, that the IP license sale is not a security and therefore not regulated by the SEC so is available for purchase widely.
Blockchain is a great architecture for provenance type use-cases where full transparency is required but millisecond timing isn’t needed. But the latency, scalability, and data privacy issues of blockchain are well-documented.
DisLedger is designed for the use-cases where data must remain private, and speed is critical… and we hold the intellectual property (U.S. and international patents pending).
So this IP token launch for DCL is effectively a hybrid approach that takes the best capabilities of blockchain to manage the IP licenses, and combines it with the speed and privacy of DisLedger’s architecture.
