Interview with TV-Two

BitcoinChaser: What kind of problem or opportunity inspired you to launch Tv-Two?

TV-Two: We met 2 years ago when we were working in a mobile advertising tech startup. In mid-2017 the venture was acquired by Telefónica Germany. Equipped with a ton of key learnings and an accelerated experience of working closely together, we decided to launch our own baby!

When we heard that Facebook and Google were looking to expand into TV, we were intrigued. When researching the market, we discovered that a fully functioning Smart TV infrastructure already existed (700 million sets globally), but its potential was largely untapped by TV networks. We decided that there was an opportunity worth exploring here, and that it was tailor-made for blockchain technology.

Simply put, our vision is to connect Smart TVs across the globe to the Ethereum blockchain. Basically, we want to reinvigorate broadcast TV for the digital age; and find a way for advertisers, viewers, and content creators to prosper via a decentralised value chain.

BC: How will Tv-Two address this problem?

TV-Two: Value we create compared to traditional TV networks:

• Users get to watch a personalized TV channel.
• Users are rewarded for watching sponsored messages.
• Small content providers get to make it to the Big Screen.
• Small content providers can finance videos with TV ad spendings.
• Advertisers achieve transparency over their TV spendings
• Advertisers get to use their first-party data for TV campaigns.

BC: How is the competition in your segment of the market?

TV-Two: Directly, we do not have a (decentralized) competitor. As we are talking about a personalized video experience on the big screen, YouTube comes the closes to our concept. Our unfair advantage against Google / YouTube is the following: While YouTube is optimizing for the shareholder value of Alphabet, TV-TWO is optimizing for utility to users and video producers to maximize the token value. The economics for content creators are inherently superior on our open platform. While video producers will not stop uploading to YouTube from day one, they will tell their audience to go over to TV-TWO, because they earn more on our platform with every single view. This will lead to exclusive partnerships in the medium term.

BC: For anyone who is still on the fence about contributing to your ICO after reading your whitepaper, what can you tell them to buy into your project?

TV-Two: Essentially, we want to decentralize advertising. We are starting with the largest advertising market that exists – TV advertising. Additionally, this industry is in urgent need for innovation. Hence, we see a great fit to bring our personalized TV experience, where consumers are rewarded for watching sponsored messages.

Why participate during the public crowdsale?

Since the number of TTV is fixed after the crowdsale, each issued token possesses the right to show sponsored messaged to a defined percentage of consumers that watch television through TV-TWO. If the absolute number of consumers using TV-TWO grows over time, the inherent utility of each token increases. The anticipation of greater utility in the future will cause market participants to hold on to TTV and increase the price. For participants, Network Utility Expansion describes the mechanism that has the power to lead to an appreciation of the TTV compared to other assets.
